When asking people to trust a mediator with dispute and conflict confidentiality, it seems only fair to share who I am and what I bring to the process.

My name is Steven King. I live in New Fairview, Texas with my wife, Teresa. We’ve been married for 48 years—and counting. Like any long partnership, ours has required patience, negotiation, compromise, and mutual respect.
I am a United States Marine Corps veteran and spent 38 years in commercial aviation maintenance. Those careers demanded daily excellence in safety, professionalism, accuracy, accountability, communication, and disciplined problem-solving. Calm under pressure wasn’t optional—it is required.
Those same principles continue in my public service. I currently serve on the New Fairview City Council as Mayor Pro Tem, where approachability, listening, objectivity, and fair diplomacy are essential. Teresa and I also own and manage a small office building that leases office space to therapists and health-related businesses. With more than a decade of property management, we’ve learned firsthand the challenges faced by small businesses—and the importance of empathy, clarity, and responsible decision-making.
The Team Levee Concept
TEAM
The Marine Corps taught me the importance of leadership and teamwork. No organization or relationship reaches its potential without both. Mediation works best when people engage as part of a solution-focused team.
LEVEE
A levee provides stability when water levels rise. The investment in building a strong levee is small compared to the damage caused by uncontrolled flooding. Conflict can feel the same—overwhelming, emotional, and unpredictable. The levee analogy reflects how mediation provides structure and calm guidance when tensions run high. My goal is to offer that same steady presence.
